Did anyone experience programming a new remote for their i3? I lost one of my remotes (not the small glove box key, that is still in my key chain) and the dealer told me I cannot just program the remote myself and has to go through them to have it programmed to my i3. I see in some internet sites that you can program this "smart keys" by just having a working one with you as long as the new one is specifically ordered for you i3 (VIN required) and not just purchased off someone who found one.
Is this true for i3 remotes?
BTW, I invested in this blue rubber remote case after I lost one remote. I see that this case can help protect the remote from dislodging from the small key which is the one tied into the key chain. Hopefully, its a good investment.
I heard it is over $300 for a new key and the programming. I believe it would need to be the same type of "i" branded key to work. Since there are probably none on the used market yet, you are probably obligated to get it from a dealer. That's a good tip about the fob cover!
VVDI 2 certainly the best choice. VVDI 2=VVDI options + BMW Multi Tool options+ Porsche options +J2534 (free)+ Tango (free)+ remote control generation(free)+ VAG diagnostic tool+ …more other function will be added. It’s comprehensive product, the only defect is that the price is feel-helpless for normal car owners.cheap to buy from buyobdii.com
