Got a warning light a few days ago with regard to the air bag or the seat belts not working or not working properly. Took the vehicle into my dealer on Thursday and had it back the same day, all fixed and ready to go. My experience with my dealership is that they jump right on the very few issues I've had with my i3 REx. At least with regard to my dealer, Sterling in Newport Beach, Ca.., BMW should know that they are taking care of their i3 owners, adding a dimension of satisfaction to the original purchase. Christie, my i3 specialist, handles our issues. She is personable, polite and efficient. I urge all i3 owners to get to know their dealership and their i3 specialist as it will add to the enjoyment of owning this spectacular vehicle.

That's great to hear Dr B, thanks for posting. As with any manufacturer, the level of service we find at dealerships can vary from exceptional to not so great. Good service at your dealer really improves he ownership experience and can make the difference between brand loyalty and losing the customer to another brand.
I have had nothing but great service from my dealer, JMK BMW in New Jersey also. It's bad enough when you have to deal with a problem your car has, good service takes the edge off the aggravation a bit, and bad service can multiply your frustration exponentially.
My i3 has been in the shop for a cumulative total of 15 days because of this problem. I've had to take it back 3 times in the first 6 weeks of my lease. My next step is to request a refund of this month's payment.
Had this issue also, my dealer said they had to order it from Germany. Finally got the part in and it was the wrong one. The one they needed was in CA (I'm in Oregon. Took over half a day to get it done but the dealer did deliver the car to my work. They seem to be trying but not much experience with the problems with the car
I managed to discover that my passenger seatbelt warning indicator and alarm will go off if anything made of reflective foil is placed on the seat regardless of the weight. For example, a bag lined with foil (used to keep items cold), an ATHLETA store bag with foil on the bottom half of the bag, etc.
I have this now on my I8... been back yo dealer twice and they clear it but it comes back in a couple of days, any help will be greatly appreciated. One post here says reflective foil triggers their warning and I have been using this type of bag and putting it on the back seat so will eliminate this first. any other I8 owners seeing this warning ?
If you are seeing the "airbag/restraint system" fault, this is very a common issue with the i3. There should be a bulletin for it. I had the wiring harness replaced in my i3. Tell your dealer to search for it in the computer.
