Hi there I series owners and enthusiast,
My name is Robert and I'm a student studying at Academy of Art University in Automotive Design. This semester we are redesigning the interior for an I Series model with similar configurations to the I3 model.
I have a few questions about the interior of this car and would appreciate any type of feedback given. This is quite a bit of information so please feel free to answer as much or little as possible.
I'm doing some research in trying to understand the i3 and it's owners. What are these i3 mainly being used for? City driving, commuting to work or weekend getaways?
What are the most beneficial aspects of the interior as an owner of an i3?
Why did the i3 catch your attention over the competition?
How is the interior technology in regard to usability and user experience versus your other mobile devices? Quality of experience from the displays on the dash board? I.e. is it simple and easy to understand? Too complicated?
What sets the i3 interior apart from it's competitors from an owners actual experience?
Did the interior ergonomics play a key role in your decision to purchase this car?
How is the infotainment and in car experience? Does the interior present an inviting feeling when you or your friends first step inside?
In terms of material/ fit and finish does the i3 surpass your expectations in comparison to say a conventional car you owned prior? What makes the style appeal to you? Is it Color layout or maybe textures on the dash or doors?
On the functionality side what do you think about the displays as far as their location? Are they easy to see and read? Would they be better if they were higher on the dash board or maybe closer to the driver? Different angle?
Do you like the layout of the dashboard going all the way across to the passenger without a center console coming off the dash? Would a center console coming off the dash board instrument panel be more comfortable?
The Shifter and the stalks behind the steering wheel. Are those in a good location or would it be better on the dash to the right of the steering wheel?
Would one display spanning the dashboard be more functional then two smaller screens as seen in the current i3?
Does the I-Drive mouse function well in terms of simplicity and ease of use? Would a one touch system similar to the iphone be preferred?
What interior features could be improved? Should power option seats be needed or are the manual adjustable kind alright?
Any problems experienced on the interior i3 in terms of fit/finish, ergonomics or comfort? How about durability with the interior materials and cleaning?
Thanks for helping in designing a next generation interior for the I series.
