We had been using the low cost charging mode for about a year and it worked great. we switched it to immediate charging when we had forgotten to plug the car in one night. Now we want to switch it back and when we toggle the low cost charging box, the check mark shifts to the low cost charging from the immediate charging, but about 20 seconds later the car shifts the check mark back to immediate charging. I tried making the switch and the turning off the car and making the switch and getting out of the charging settings window and neither prevented the check from shifting back to immediate charging mode.
Yes, the departure time box is checked and the days with times filled in. The low cost charging times are also in. I tried getting the low cost setting to hold with and without the precondition toggle checked. Nothing has worked.
I have the same issue. Why has BMW not addressed it? I currently drive a 2017 BMW i3 REX and this is exactly the behavior I am seeing ... It switches back to Charging Immediately within 20 seconds ... I have done everything to ensure there is 8 hours between low cost charging start time and departure time. Still not working. Please help.
I don't see that issue on my 2017 i3 with software version I001-17-03-507 as shown in the header of the exported Profile xml file. I know someone that does have the issue on a 2017 i3 with software version I001-17-03-502. Perhaps a software update will correct the issue?
I have a 2016 REX. Recently, BMW had a recall on the i3. After getting the car home, the i3 would not charge on "low cost" charging. Took the car back. The service department had the car for three days and said the problem was fixed. Yes, the car was set to low cost charging and with the correct times and days to charge. Given that, the car charged immediately. I returned the car. The service tech began to read the owners book to me. I said, stop, I followed all the proper guidelines about setting the low cost charger. Dah. Now, the service guy is telling me that's it's my BMW high priced charging unit. No it's the EME. BMW fried the EME on the re-set. They won't admit to there mistake and BMW wants to make it all about me. This will be my last venture into the electric car market. Oh, I also live in California. My birth state just doubled the cost of auto registration. Don't live in California.
