My family and I took our 2014 BMW i3 Rex on a Texas road trip. Fully charged the night before with our factory issued level-1 charger. Drove most of the trip in "eco-pro" mode and a limited amount of time in "eco-pro+" mode. Held my max speed on the outbound stretch to 65MPH, manly on cruise control. I had a full tank of gas of the Rex...no "hold mode". We recharged at a level-2 in San Antonio as we arrived, a recouped about 40 mile to drive around town in "comfort" mode. Then we recharged before we left using our factory issued level-1 charger and level-2 in San Antonio before we left back for Houston.
Quick recap: -EV was about 160 miles -Rex was the remainder, about 274 miles. -We fueled up about 4 times...spending no more that $5 total per tank with premium 93 octane. -Used "eco-pro" mode most of the trip. -Max speed on the outbound stretch to 65MPH, to San Antonio -Max speed on the inbound stretch to 75MPH, to Houston. -All factory settings on our i3, -3 passengers total, myself 200+lbs, and a my children about 100 extra lbs. -Never went into reserve power mode, I was able to maintain speed the entire way. -Dropped to about a 3% SOC with no real danger.
